Reinos de Tambor by Balam
With releases on the likes of Hard Fist, Calypso, Get Physical and Playground, Argentina’s Balam finally drops his first full artist EP on Multi Culti, a label where his blend of tribal percussion with folkloric samples and modular synth riffs couldn’t be more at home. These five trippy sub-120-bpm tracks invoke spine-shaking trance without resorting to the generic tropes of PSY. Mid-tempo ritual chuggers sure to send psychedelically-inclined clubbers into chakra-raising ecstasies, while converting at least a few listeners as-yet-uninitiated in the cult of ‘organic house’.
