April 2022: Eclectics release Lele: The Reworks by Statues

What would you do differently if you could do it all again? It’s a big question, right? Countless possibilities, endless avenues… Who knows? Statues, that’s who.

When given the chance to remix “Lele” from their 2020 EP Visions, they knew exactly what to do. They turned their marimba-led Balearic clarion call into a dubbed-out chugging anthem. A beefed-up rhythm section carries everything along with a renewed sense of purpose, while synthesisers build, layer upon layer, framing Laura Maidment’s beautiful, plaintive vocal with a newfound urgency as we drift towards the dancefloor.

Vanity Project is next up, blending soft keys with an undulating, acid bass. Soft focus synth stabs give the rework an 80s polish, while the gentle, reed-brushed burr of a saxophone drifts in on the breeze and takes a seat by the pool. It’s music to help the mind forget the daily grind.

Mikey Sibson is next up, making his Eclectics debut with a truly phenomenal slice of deep club dub. Boasting a bass line so low slung it makes Hooky look uptight, this epic version plays with mechanics and dynamics, stretching time and dragging delay all over… more
