Rainbow by alexalone

The first time I saw Boris was when they played a drone set at the old End of an Ear record store. I was interested in them but had never seen that type of music played live before and It was amazing. CD’s were falling off of the shelves from the volume & vibrations and in the middle of the set they switched it up and played “rainbow”. After that show I started really listening to the record “Rainbow” and that was how I became aware of Michio Kurihara (whose guitar & ebow playing I now often emulate).

“Rainbow” sent me into a Boris rabbit hole that I have never really come out of and Boris is such a big inspiration for me because of the way they follow their interests record to record. Fast forward to 2020 when we were asked to do a cover song for the compilation “COVERED” put together by daphne tunes, I knew what song I wanted to do. Drewsky played the ripping guitar solo & Mari sang the sick vocals which are usually my roles, so seeing that they could be occupied by other people so well in this band was very exciting. It was the first time the four of us worked on something that wasn’t our ALEXALONEWORLD record and it is a fun document of the short time before Hannah joined the band, as well as a tribute to one of my favorite bands of all time.
