Porque Te Vas ft. Coco Maria by Daniel Haaksman, Coco Maria

A little bit more than one and a half years after the release of the underground hit single “La Añoranza”, a collaboration featuring Coco Maria, Dengue Dengue Dengue and Ori Kaplan, Daniel Haaksman is back with a new song partnership with the Mexican singer.

Building on the worldwide success of “La Añoranza”, Berlin ́s tropical bass pioneer asked Coco Maria for a new vocal contribution to one of his personal all time favourite songs, the 1970s classic “Por Que Te Vas” (Spanish for “Because you are leaving”), originally sung by Jeanette. A romantic ballad, it deals with the pain of parting. Its lyrics speak of a loss, of an abandonment and have been described as conveying a sense of longing.

For Coco Maria, the song also reflects on her recent relocation from Berlin to Amsterdam. She begins singing: “Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol y el corazón se pone triste contemplando la ciudad, porque te vas” (“Today the sun shines in my window and the heart gets sad contemplating the city, because you’re leaving”).The refrain features the lyrics: “Todas las promesas de mi amor se irán contigo/Me olvidarás/Me olvidarás/Junto a la estación yo lloraré igual que un niño/Porque te vas” (“All of my love’s promises will go with you/You will forget me/You will forget me/Beside the station… more
