Espíritu De Tierra by Mixwell

The second installment in Mixwell’s Espíritu series arrives as an anticipated follow-up to the acclaimed “Espíritu de Fuego” EP.
“Espíritu de Tierra” pays homage to the earth element, drawing inspiration from and paying respects to the rich fertile soils that sustain and ground us. The opening track Enraizado (Rooted) has Mixwell returning to one of his favorite instruments, the Afro-Brazilian berimbau, with it’s distinct clangy timbre reminiscent of capoeira music, blended with earth-inspired chants and Native-American flutes – all set over a rich fusion of genres that somehow blends downtempo organic house with elements of dembow, deep dub reggae and trap, culminating into an infectious multi-ethnic 80bpm dancefloor banger. Next comes Linaje (Lineage), picking up the tempo but continuing the exploration of deep organic house beats with hints of dub vibes and traditional instruments from varied cultures, this time incorporating distorted kalimbas and the metallic percussive clinks of the Moroccan Krakeb. And finally, Cíclico (Cyclic) descends into a deeply hypnotic groove with rich wooden Marimba tones and droning chants that evoke a trance-like state.
All tracks were composed and produced by Mixwell in his home studio on Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.
