Closer by Jonas Schilling

When I wrote Closer, I experienced this unique feeling when you become one with your instrument, forget about the rules of music, stop thinking and just play.
I never wanted to produce electronic music. I used to play guitar in bands and loved the smell of rehearsal spaces where you actually create the music whilst playing. I thought that using just a computer would mean to create lifeless music. That it would lack the mistakes, the surprise, the human element.

I did not know that electronic instruments can create their own surprises. Now I am thankful about my discovery and use technology in a way that sounds organic and human. Whatever brings us closer to the perfect beat – was my inspiration for this track. I have written Closer as a reminder to myself to preserve lightness in my life.
