Vanity Project – Levels by eclectics

February 2022: Eclectics release LEVELS by Vanity Project

If you’ve felt like you’ve been sleepwalking through the beginning of 2022, you’re in good company, we have too. Don’t worry, the soporific stumble through the worst weeks of the year stops right here. Eclectics is out of hibernation with a release worth waking up for.

Vanity Project is a dream-team pick in the eclectics starting line-up, and this release is sure to secure his spot for the foreseeable.

Falling Up is a welcome slow shuffle out of our collective slumber. The one-two, whip crack of the kick and snare keeps everything in line, while the undulating bassline takes control and carries us on to meet our melody, all dressed up to the nines in breathy synth stabs that give extra weight to this already heavy rhythm.

Next it’s over to master of the edit Leo Zero, who ups the percussive punch and produces an inspired rework with a little more jack in the back. A gentle acid wonk builds and builds, with subtle strings appearing layer upon layer to add some much-needed heat to these winter months.

Falling Down, meanwhile, gives you a similarly neck-snapping groove, but with smoother moves. Its perfectly propulsive momentum ensures you’ll stay on your feet for the duration, while the melodic mantra and stretched-out synths offer a blissed-out haven that wraps itself around you and sways for days.

eclectics regular James Bright reports for remix duties and strips right down to build back from the ground up. The result? An irresistible slice of acid-infused, piano-drenched joy, precision engineered and perfectly geared for lifting moods and raising hands.

Honestly, it should be available on prescription.
