Time is A Gift Which We Share All The Time – Remixed by Afriquoi
London afro-fusion band Afriquoi comes back with a remixed version of their lauded EP “Time is A Gift Which We Share All The Time” which came out on Mawimbi Records in june of 2020.
With smooth pads and signature percussion hooks, London-via-Ghana producer Hagan offers a moody rework of “Acid Attack”, channeling a distinctly urban vibe by drawing from trap and UK bass.
Already featured on the original EP, French combo Voilaaa completely reimagines “Ndeko Solo”, turning it into a stomping afro-disco track, with great horn arrangements and vintage keys licks.
Finding a pretty unheard balance between luso afro-house sounds and a distinct UK club music influence, Utrecht-based producer Prace keeps the original afro-house feel of “Bayeke”, while pushing it further with a creative use of vocal hooks and a driving, heady bassline. Watch out for his forthcoming EP on Mawimbi!
London-based duo and Mawimbi favourite Village Cuts rounds off the EP with a stripped down rework of “Sam Sam”, cleverly sampling kora and guitar hooks, and adding some of their signature goofy sounds for a perfect dancefloor burner.
