Corail (Remixed) by Loya
Loya and Mawimbi Records are proud to present the remixed version of “Corail”, Loya’s critically acclaimed 2018 album, which gathered wide support from the press (XLR8R, Les Inrocks, Nova, RFI) and was celebrated as one of the best electronic records of 2018 by Trax Magazine. Loya is a project by La Réunion-native Sébastien Lejeune, dedicated to unearthing musical musical traditions from the Indian Ocean such as séga, maloya and tsapiky and mixing these influences with contemporary electronic music.
“Corail (Remixed)” will be released on March 22nd and feature remixes by Dengue Dengue Dengue, Africaine 808, Alma Negra, Pigmaliao, Roscius, Pouvoir Magique, Tim Karbon and Loâzo.
While some remixes remain faithful to the true spirit of Loya’s music, based on triple time beats and emotional synth motifs (Dengue Dengue Dengue, Roscius), some remixes take new directions and make forays into slow-motion acid house (Pigmaliao), UK techno hybrids (Tim Karbon) and wonky dancehall (Loâzo). The package also includes a couple bangers (Pouvoir Magique, Africaine 808), as well as tasteful, effortless reworks which show a deep understanding of Loya’s music (Alma Negra, Kreol 808).
